"Truly Joyful". That's
what the Christmas season was in Broadway.
Congregational celebration was enthusiastic
and greatly joyful. The church Choir participated
in Carols conducted by churches of different
denominations in Chennai. The Broadway church
also held an Ecumenical carol service on 14th
December 2003 in which choir groups from twelve
churches took part singing glory to the child
of Bethlehem. It was a great effort by the
Broadway Choir to organize such a joyful evening
of singing. All praise to the Holy Child.
Sunday 21st December 2003 was a day of celebrations
- family carols, love feast and children's
Christmas. The whole day from morning 9'O
clock to evening 6'O clock, the congregation
members enjoyed every moment. Gifts were distributed
to the children and new clothes to the poor
folks and widows in the congregation. Mr.
Richard Baskaran our Church Board Secretary
participated in the Service and gave the divine
message in the church service.
The highlight is the participation of the
street children along with other Sunday school
children in the celebrations. They took part
in the Three Magi one act play and also in
carol singing. They were the guests of honor
in the feast too. Sumptuous Mogul Briyani
was served to the congregation members in
the love feast. Street Children received special
gifts. Special thanks goes to Mr. Rasu, the
Sunday school teacher who trained them for
the programme.
Greater joy remained in store for the church
choir that evening. They won the first prize
in the carol singing competition conducted
by the Church of South India, Tollgate, Chennai.
Congratulations to the members of the choir,
especially Mr. David Balachandran the Choir
master, Mr. Bastian, the Asst. Choir Master
and Mr. Prince, the organist.- the musical
trio of Broadway church.
The congregation also sent new clothes, sarees
to four rural congregations of ALC, thus sharing
their joy of Christmas with them. They also
very happily and voluntarily gifted many articles
for the church two lovely chandeliers, red
carpet for the altar etc. and also liberally
contributed their mite for meeting the expenses
connected with Christmas celebrations.
Merry
Christmas !
&
Happy and Prosperous New year wishes
Condolence:-
The Broadway Congregation received with great
sorrow the news of the death of Mrs. Paul
Lange on 1st January 2004 in Denmark. She
was a great help to her missionary husband
Rev, Paul Lange. The Langes were held in great
esteem and affection by Arcot Lutheran Chuch.
The congregation gratefully remembered the
services rendered by them in ALC.
